I've been working on the railroad.....

Ok it wasn't a railroad per say but I have been working on several projects. I decided to take a break from building my craft show empire to create a few cards. All of these are super cute if I do say so myself.

Here is what I've been creating this past week.

As you can tell I have been on a birthday card kick!

If you like what you see pop on over to my esty store, these are ready for purchase :)

There are things called a leash...

Madi, our Corgi-German Sheppard mix, received a postcard in the mail last week reminding her to go to the vet for her yearly check up. As you can imagine she was just chomping at the bit to go (no sarcasm there). So like a good doggie owner I scheduled her appt.

Yesterday was the big day. Poor Madi was anxious and wondering what in the world was going on because it was just her getting into the car. (We always take both dogs out together but this time Strudel stayed home). You can imagine our shy, anxious dog is on high alert when we pulled into the parking lot but she was a good trouper and followed Jason on her leash and all seemed ok until.....

Some idiot was leaving when we were going in and they didn't have their dog on a leash; their dog rushed my poor Madi and attacked her! Luckily Jason grabbed Madi as I grabbed the other dog. Madi is ok and was not hurt but boy was I mad. I told the owners ( who just stood there) that they need to get a leash for their dog. Seriously, how can you not put your dog in a leash, some people!

Happy Monday

Well it has been no stop for me, it's been go, go, go but it has been great to stay busy (ok can you sense that I have had to much soda)!

During my latest creative binge I whipped up this nifty birthday card (nifty? really, where did that come from?)

I must have traveled back to the 70's for this color scheme, heck it doesn't matter where I went, I think the end result is awesome! (Ok I may be tooting my horn a tad much hehe) The flower was created using circle punches and the center is a little bling to tie it all together :)

I wanted to carry similar elements to the inside of the card. To do this I added a circle to the corner of where you would write your birthday wishes.

If you can't tell I am thrilled at how this card came out, here lately I have been working on holiday items and it was a refreshing break to get away from snowman and witches!

Don't forget to swing by our etsy store and check out the latest items up for grabs.

I'm Back!

Well it goes without saying that I haven't kept my blog up like I should, like I thought I would.

I hope with a little time this summer I can get in a good rythm of writting regularly. On that note I am kicking off my steady posting with this...

I updated photo's on our facebook page these two cuties are just a sample. Head on over to check out the lastest happenings saving the world one craft creation at a time!

April Already????

Before I ramble on too much I have an update on my mom. She had her surgery on March 28th on her right hand. She is healing just fine and when I talked to my dad today he said the incision is starting to itch :) She will see the Dr on the 12th for her post-opt check up

Holy smokes where did time go?

My intentions have been to write something witty, clever, interesting just to write something at least once a week for starters. Then I wanted to live dangerously and try blogging twice to three times a week! So much for good intentions, right now I am lucky to write once a month. Time has gotten away from me it seems. Not to worry though, once May 5th passes I will be free to write to my little hearts content or until my fingers fall of; whatever comes first..

Why May 5th you ask, that is when I am officially done with my Masters Program and things will slow down a little for me. This year has been a hectic one.  My brain is swimming with new craft ideas I can't wait to share them with the masses.

Well off I go, back to the world of school. If I work hard now I can have a little time to watch the Wichita Shockers tonight :)

Go SHOCKER!!!!

O Happy Day!

It is finally here..............the day is near..............we have been waiting for..........

My mom's surgery is finally going to happen! Mom is really excited, wait that doesn't sound right...oh well, she is really excited and relived that this is finally going to happen.  Thanks to all the wishes and fundraising we are a go for the 28th of March. She will have her right hand operated on first, then after it has healed we can schedule the left hand.

There are so many people to thank (I feel like I am giving an acceptance speech at an awards show); we appreciate all the prayers, word of encouragement and support of our fundraiser!!!! While we are a go with the right hand, we are still raising money to help pay for the left hand.

If you would like to help please check out our online store. All proceeds from the items we sell go to the surgery fund.

I am off to work on more of my Master's Program....I think I can, I think I can

Things are looking up!

Well I have been slipping with my posts, I apologize. Things have been hectic, I am on the downside of my Masters (I graduate in May) and the school year is quickly flying by ( I can't believe it is almost March) and now with the snow storm of the season I haven't had a moment to write or craft or anything :(

I did want to take a moment to tell you a little good news about my mom. We have been waiting on a call from the hospital about her surgery. As you may remember they need to approve it before we can schedule it because she doesn't have insurance. We have been waiting since last December and they finally called!

Here is the skinny, the hospital ordered 4 weeks of therapy and braces for her arms. At the end of the 4 weeks she will be reevaluated by her surgeon. While that is good news in a way it is kinda frustrating  because she has already had therapy and braces before and it didn't work but they want to try it again one more time. Of course I was afraid since she didn't have insurance that we would have to pay for all of the therapy but the hospital said they are going to cover the therapy since they are the ones who ordered it.

My mom is one step closer to getting the help she needs and deserves.

I want to say thank you for everyone who has continued to pray and send happy thoughts. My mom's spirit is boosted by this latest news and I am excited as well.

Mom, I know you will read this so let me say to you, I love you and Dad and I am glad we finally have something to look forward to!

Update on Life!

Hello World!

OK I know it has been a while but I have a good excuse....it's called life. Many of you know I am a teacher and I love to make creative crafty projects; what you may not know is I am also completing my Masters in Education. I just started the program last summer and all year I have been doubling up on classes so I can graduate this May. Between work and college I have had very little time to craft. I hope once everything calms down I can begin to create again and share my visions with the world.

Speaking of creating I have an update on my mom. We are still waiting on word from the hospital to know if she qualifies for a program to help pay for the cost of the hospital's part of the surgery bill. Until we get word from them we can't schedule the surgery which just frustrates us all to no end. Every day that we have to wait is one more day she is in pain. Why or why do things happen this way, we have the money for one hand and if she had the surgery today she could be back to painting a little bit in 3 months or so. Ugh! I am not good at waiting but unless someone has a magic wand they can wave I guess we will have to continue to wait. On a good note, my mom received a card the other day from Deborah in Pennsylvania with a donation of $50 to the surgery fund! We were all blown away by this very generous and thoughtful gesture.
I wanted to take a moment and share this wonderful news, this was a nice ray of sunshine in our sometimes gloomy days.

Before I head off to dream world I want to leave you with a creation I made a while back. I love this card because it is cut a little differently and I added charms for a bracelet to accent the card. The colors complement each other so well too :)

Happy Saturday night and if you have a moment click the etsy banner to visit my online store. We are still selling our handmade items to raise money for the rest of my mom's surgery costs. I appreciate all the support.

Night Night,
Kristin

Update on Mom

I know it has been a while since I posted anything. I wanted to update you on my mom. We are still trying to raise money for her surgery. As it stands right now we have enough for one hand, however we are still waiting to hear from the hospital to see if we can get help (payment plan or reduced fee) for the actual hospital part. If you would continue to pray for a solution to all of this we would greatly appreciate it. My mom is getting worse everyday. if I could pay for the whole thing I would in a heart beat or I would gladly take her pain. Please check out our fundraising album or our etsy store. If you are interested in something please contact me. Thank you and God Bless.

Hello Friend

I wanted to post this card I made for 2 challenges quickly. I tried to post it yesterday but blogger and I were having troubles understanding each other. I am entering this card in the animal challenge at Kraftin Kimmie Stamps and The Sweet Stop  192.

Sorry for the flash bounce, I just wasn't winning with technology yesterday!

This card was made with paper from K & Company Urban stack, Pepper & Friends embellishment, Recollections rhinestones and I have no clue who made the stamp :)

Love Song

O Happy Day!

I was able to squeeze in a little crafting time and what better way to use my precious time than to create a new card for a challenge over at Paper Craft Crew.  I gotta say, this was almost not completed. While I was trying to create awesomeness, my dog Strudel decided to chew a pillow she found on the couch. The filling was everywhere! Of course I can't blame Strudel completely, Madi was standing in the middle of all the filling too so she could have helped destroy the pillow but with Strudel's track record I would almost put money on her.

Any who on to the card that almost never was....

I created this card using Provencal stamp from Stampin Up, Early Espresso ink from Stampin Up, the flower is a Prima flower, the words love song is from a G- stamp and the paper is a little of this and that scraps.

Craft or Not to Craft?

Days like this one only come around every so often.

I woke up with great ideas of crafting, of making something spectacular, something mind blowing, something so grand trumpets would sound....then I opened my eyes and reality set in. I had errand to run, dishes to wash and other household cleaning stuff. I was still hopefully...I could get all my must haves done and then on to awesomeness.

Ha! I finished all my errands and just when I thought I was in the clear I saw the bookstore. I stopped in just to see what was new and I couldn't resist. I walked out with 5 books!

I proceeded to come home, wrap up in a blanket and read. I have finished one book and now I am on to another.

My goal for tomorrow- get off the couch and create!

New Year's Resolution..I Need Your Help

Good Afternoon, I hope your new year is off to a stellar start. I have had a great winter break and tomorrow it is back to teaching. I am anxious to hear what my students have been up to during the break.

Instead of posting a crafty creation, today I want to talk about resolutions. Now don't worry I am not going to start yammering on about losing weight, exercising and all that jazz. I have a different new year resolution one that I will your help with.

Many of you know my mom is in need of surgery on both her hands because of severe nerve damage. Normally insurance would cover surgical costs but when she had to leave her job to care for my dad after his stroke she lost her insurance. You can read more about her story in my first post here on the blog. Over the past 3 months we have held a fundraiser and I am happy to report that we raised enough money to talk to the doctor about starting on one hand. We are still in need of raising more money to help with the cost of the other surgery and after care. Our original goal was 8,000 and to date we raised about 2,500. You are probably wondering what this has to do with my resolution, well I want to raise the rest of the money for my mom.

I understand people have bills to pay, their own problems and some just don't want to give to a stranger but I am optimistic I can reach my goal. Instead of asking for large amounts of money I want to simply ask you to give $1. It may not sound like a lot to you, but one dollar adds up to two and then three and so on. If you don't feel comfortable giving a dollar then please check out my etsy store (located on the side of the blog and top of the blog) you can buy a handmade item created by me and a few remaining pieces my mom made before her condition worsened. All of the proceeds from my sale on etsy go to my mom's fund. I have a paypal account set up if you would like to donate directly, if not check out my store where I accept all major credit cards, money orders and paypal.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this post, I would appreciate if you could send this on to everyone you know.

I don't know how I will ever be able to repay your kindness,

Kristin

Candy Cane Wishes

Happy New Year! I hope this post finds everyone happy and healthy. I've been busy busy, Jason and I went to lunch today and then bowling. It was a great way to start the new year. Of course since we have been back home I have been scouring the internet looking for my next challenge; several hours later I stumbled onto Papertake Weekly and their anything goes challenge! Whoot Whoot, I am one happy crafter but what to make what to make.

After staring at my supplies and looking through my latest paper purchase I finally settled on a design. I have this adorable penguin image on cardstock I have been dying to use so I paired him up with white snowflake embossed paper, layered on a solid red card, added a splash of candy cane themed paper, tied it together with a little ribbon and added a sentiment at the bottom; BAM my little creation is born.

All I have to do now is name my little penguin friend, any suggestions?

Have a spectacular Tuesday!

Kristin
